“I Used To Be A Champion.”
If dogs could speak and tell us why they ended up homeless in a shelter, this is what they’d say.
Scoots would tell his story of abuse and destruction by being forced to please his owner by destroying anything in his path. Scoots, along with 11 other champion dogs in a particular ring, was the best of the best. His previous owner used toys as a tool to get Scoots to fight. After the fighting ring was broken up by the police, the 12 ring dogs were brought to a rural shelter. The dogs’ love of people kept them alive. Spending a year in the shelter made this sweetheart an easy target for the other dogs to bully through the kennel gate, as he truly just wants to love. He was sad and ready to start a new life.
According to the ASPCA, the number of dog fighters active in the U.S. numbers in the tens of thousands, with hundreds of thousands of dogs used in fights.
Scoots came to Hard Knocks June 2021 and is still looking for his forever home.
