Who are we?

Our rescue program is centered around using decompression, positive reinforcement, and mutual respect to rehabilitate dogs coming from abusive and neglectful situations, as well as those considered feral. Because of their histories, these dogs generally have behavioral issues causing them to appear “unadoptable” in shelters and traditional rescue settings making them susceptible to euthanasia. The HKRT process allows for the traumatized dog to take as much time as they need to adjust and become comfortable in a home setting before finding their forever family. Additionally, we provide fee – for – service training and rehabilitation services to families, helping to ensure dogs with special behavioral needs stay in homes with humans who feel empowered and are educated to manage any problems that may arise. With this mission, we will reduce shelter capacity, increase live release rates, and decrease the number of dogs rehomed or euthanized due to fear – based reactivity and manageable behaviors.

HKRT business hours: Wednesday - Friday from 12pm to 5pm, Saturday 11am to 2pm. Other times by appointment only.

The best way to contact us is via email at HKRTinc@gmail.com. We respond to email only during business hours.

Our dogs are not kept in a facility, but in private foster homes. Please do not stop by our office to meet a dog without scheduling an appointment first.

Our intakes come from shelters, rescues, and by referral from HAWS only. We do not respond to intake requests unless we are able to help.

We are currently operating by appointment only.
